one of the things that i really enjoyed about this message, was her incredible honesty. and thats really the type of thing that i need to hear. i could so much identify with so many of her struggles - working so hard to fit in, be everything that the church tells you to be, "living up" to the exception, but then failing it, wondering if you even want to try to live up to it...
we've definitely made Christianity into something that it was never meant to be, its become such a religion, just like any other with, specific rules and ways of acting. I know how im supposed to act around my 'church' people, and i know how i act around everyone else. i know so well the rules of the game, but im so tired of playing it.
enough with the legalism and condemnation.
Brennen manning in his book, "the Ragamuffin gospel" does a fantastic job of so clearly driving home the incredible love of Christ - that He loved us so much, while we were still sinners, that he died for us. so that means, there is nothing we can do now to make him love us anymore. he already loves us to the complete. so we can stop trying to live up to these impossible standards, and just be real. accept us for who we are, and so accept other for who they are. broken. hurting. but so loved.
